A special week in Sri Lanka

Our last retreat took place on the tropical Island of Sri Lanka. We hosted our retreat in a beautiful Villa a short walk from the ocean, surrounded by jungle and coconut trees. On the first couple of days the girls got to know each other and it didn't take long until we felt like family. Everyday started and ended with yoga, Vinyasa flow or Hatha in the morning, and a more calming and relaxing yin practice in the evening after a long day exploring the island. What a better way to start and end the day?

The ladies also got to try SUP Yoga on the tropical Thalduwa River. Simply a beautiful experience, a great way to find stillness and recentre the mind. It's the perfect way to challenge yourself and have fun practicing yoga using big inflatable Paddleboards as our yoga mat and the jungle as our yoga Shala. We ended the yoga retreat with Sound Healing, where we received the beautiful sounds and healing vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls and handpan. The instruments took us beyond relaxation and into a healing state in the body, mind and soul.

The people of Sri Lanka are very proud of their national food, Rice and Curry. We visited a local Sri Lankan woman's cooking class who took us through the secrets of making delicious dhal, sambol and various vegetable curries. Sushanti and her daughter are running their own business in Unawatuna. They have created a place where you can learn, eat and stay. We had the best time, and left with big smiles and happy bellies.

When we didn't make food, we had it served. Everyday we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner together where a lot of fun conversations took place. Just have a look at these plates! We are longing to go back to our tasty paradise. Food is so much better shared with other like-minded people.

In their free time, the girls enjoyed the beach and some even went surfing! During this week we had a few fun party waves. The beaches here are simply stunning and there are many places for beginners and intermediate surfers to practice. We loved showing the girls around to chase waves.

Crazy Tuktuk rides, markets, dancing, live music and interesting new foods just brings icing to the cake. What a great week it was, and we can't wait to host more retreats in the future! Our next destination will be in Spain and we hope to see you there, ready for a new adventure.
